Tips for Easy Brown Sugar Glazed Pork Chops

Pork Chop Cooking Temperature

Pork chops should be cooked to an internal temperature of 155-160 degrees. Remember the thicker your pork chop the longer it will take to cook. Here is where an instant read digital meat thermometer is your best friend.

Also, preheating your grill pan over medium heat will help to achieve the perfect sear and crust and ensure your pork chops cook evenly. Once you place the preseasoned pork chops on the grill pan it may be necessary to adjust the heat down a bit if they appear to be grilling too hot. Once they’ve hit the hot pan, DO NOT move them around. This will help you achieve the perfect grill marks that are the signature of cooking in a grill pan.

Just 4 minutes per side should be all you need to bring your pork chops to temp. Then simple remove from heat, cover with aluminum foil and allow them to rest for 5-10 minutes. Resting your meat after cooking allows them to finish the cooking process and the juices to redistribute giving a perfectly juicy pork chop.

Can I Use Bone-In Pork Chops for This Recipe?

All you have on hand are bone-in pork chops and would still like to try this recipe? Go for it! Meat on the bone can be more flavorful and certainly harder to overcook than boneless. Simply increase your cooking time by 2 minutes per side and watch your temperature carefully. Again, internal temp should be 155-160 prior to resting. What If I Don’t Have a Grill Pan?

Don’t have a grill pan? Don’t panic! It’s going to be okay. Any heavy bottomed frying pan will do. Just make sure to preheat it and you are good to go.

Don’t be afraid to pull out your seasoned cast iron pans for this recipe (grill or otherwise). Don’t be intimidated by cast iron it is easier to take care of than you think. Take a look at this easy cast-iron seasoning guide.
